Candy
Esthetician/Stylist
Candy is what you would call a “people person.” She’s also a natural problem solver. Take these two attributes, put them together and you could easily see how she became an Esthetician/Stylist.
Every day Candy’s inspired by her clients. She thrives upon being trusted and relied upon. And trust her they do — she has an ability to make her clients relax so much during their facials that they fall asleep.
Her classic style radiates and becomes apparent when you see her carrying her favorite Coach handbag with French-manicured nails. And when she’s not in the Salon & Spa, you’ll find her out enjoying nature or volunteering her time with a Boston Terrier rescue organization.
Candy’s advice for everyone, “Slow down. Devote a few minutes every day to doing something just for you. Meditate, count your blessings or sit outside and enjoy the outdoors — just don’t forget your sunscreen.
Carlos
Advanced Master Stylist
For Carlos’ family, the gift of styling is genetic. Inspired by his mother, a phenomenal stylist, Carlos entered the beauty industry with knowledge, enthusiasm and drive. Over the course of his career, Carlos has always been driven to make his clients feel beautiful and handsome by accentuating their best features.
His focus on the individual is impressive. When you sit in his chair, you feel cared for and you know you will leave looking exactly the way you want.
Meticulous and modern define Carlos’ style. He covets anything and everything Dolce & Gabana and he loves to shop (sometimes a dangerous combination!). When at work, you will always find him in one of his many ties. When at play, you’ll find him running or relaxing to his favorite music. He recommends that all men try Redken’s Clean Spicy shampoo and conditioner all-in-one. For him, it’s the perfect start to his day.
Dana
Advanced Master Stylist
Dana’s path to becoming an Advanced Master Stylist began when she wanted to do specialty makeup for people with aesthetic problems like scars, burns, birthmarks and skin conditions. As a person driven by her creativity, she felt compelled to help others feel good about themselves through this creative outlet. In her schooling, however, she discovered by accident she had a “knack” for doing hair — and the rest is history. (Her clients are very thankful for this happy accident.)
Dana draws ideas from anything and everyone and spreads this inspiration wherever she goes. In addition to making her clients look and feel good, she satisfies her creative urges through writing and photography. Once you meet her, you get a sense that she never stops thinking. Never stops doing. Never stops creating.
Her originality and inventiveness are not limited to what she does because they’re a part of who she is. Most certainly these attributes show up in her fashion, as only a person full of creativity and confidence would say, “I can make a gunny sack look good with the right pair of shoes.”
Donna
Master Massage Therapist
Donna makes it her mission to help her clients not only alleviate pain, but also prevent it. And this focus on preventative techniques in massage and education has gained her quite a loyal following. In fact, she says one of the best reactions she can get from a client is for them to enter her suite in obvious pain and then leave carefree with ease and comfort.
Her interest in the body transcends the workplace and fills her personal life too. Working out is a must for her, and if you don’t see her on the volleyball court at least once a week, something’s wrong! But even more important than massage therapy and volleyball is her six-year-old daughter.
Endlessly curious and naturally creative, Donna greets each day with an open mind and is ready to learn or experience something new. This attitude also extends to her sense of style. She loves most style genres and would describe her personal style as eclectic, and her hairstyle changes daily — up, down, curly, straight, it all depends on the day.
Julie
Master Nail Technician
Julie is what you’d call a “hand person.” It’s the first thing she’s always noticed on people. And she can learn a lot about you by just looking at your hands! She attributes this interest to her grandmother who had long slender fingers and always wore a striking color of red. (What little girl can resist red nail polish?!) This interest eventually led her to her accomplished career in the beauty industry.
Besides being a hand person, Julie’s also a people person. She lives for the daily interaction with her clients. And her clients push her to do her best work every day because she treats them like friends — and, therefore, she never wants to let them down.
Julie is a life-long learner and is passionate about adding to her professional and personal knowledge base. So she loves it when her clients look to her for advice on the latest in trends and technology.
With her favorite color of nailpolish being “You Gotta Get This Blue,” you can easily understand why others describe Julie as fun and flirty. And even though she’s got a “go-go-go” personality, she believes everyone should take some time each day to relax and take a break from your responsibilities.
Ken
Master Stylist
Ken found his way to the beauty industry through fashion and art. His immersion into these two worlds fueled his need to be creative, and styling hair became his outlet. His desire to create, learn, invent and improve has never faded and is what inspires him to do his best work.
Ken’s what you would call a self-starter but believes that everyone needs a mentor to push their limits. And the drive Ken possesses spills over into his personal life — as his love of all things technology gives him the opportunity to learn something new every day.
Laci
Master Nail Technician
Inspired by her mom and sister, Laci entered the ever-changing world of beauty 10 years ago. And as a person who loves never having the same day twice, Laci is perfectly suited for her profession.
Although she’s interested in all aspects of beauty, nails are her passion. She believes it’s an art form that’s always evolving. There’s something new to learn, try or practice every day — that makes life interesting! Laci also loves the interactions she has and the connections she makes with her clients. (If you really want to compliment Laci, just ask her to take a picture of your nails for your blog or Facebook page.)
She describes her style as rockin’ and won’t pass up a night of dancing in a pair of high heels. You can also learn a lot about her by the name of her favorite nail polish, What’s with the Cattitude.
Leah
Artistic Team Leader
When Leah was five-years old, she lived next door to a salon. She loved the energy so much, she knew it would one day be her calling. A master stylist by training, she now serves as the Artistic Team Leader of our national creative team. In this position, Leah is in charge of the creative direction for our entire team of beauty brands stylists, estheticians, massage therapists and nail technicians. To help our associates maintain their edge and improve their skills, Leah constantly seeks new education and information to pass along. She’s so up-to-date with the current trends and innovations — you could even say she’s “up to the second.”
When you meet Leah, you understand why her favorite color is yellow — she’s exuberant, flamboyant, passionate and perpetually positive. Although Leah says her favorite thing in life is sunshine, those who know her would say that she’s sunshine.
She pours this spirit and vibe into everything she touches. And when you sit in her chair, you can’t help but smile. She says, “when I make others feel beautiful, I feel amazing.” She believes that the key to being a successful beauty professional is her unwaivering acceptance of human beings — although she’s affecting her clients’ outer beauty, she knows that she’s also helping them cope with life’s challenges.
Her creative juices never stop flowing and this is evident not only in her professional achievements, but also in her love for gardening. (A gift of a star-gazer lily will get you far with Leah!) Her go-to accessory is a ring “that looks like a garden on your hand.” It reminds her of her love of fashion, gardening and even her sister (the gift giver).
To get a sense of Leah’s style, you should know her favorite fashion designer is Alexander McQueen. She loves big, chunky, trendy and fashion-forward apparel.
Mari
Master Massage Therapist
A nurturer at her core, Mari became a massage therapist because of her passion for holistic methods of healing and treating injury. She is equally passionate about art, reading, dancing and cooking. Noticing a trend? That’s right — another innate attribute Mari possesses is creativity. Knowing all of this, you can understand why she thrives in the Salon & Spa setting.
Confident in life, confident in herself and her abilities, Mari credits much of her confidence to the interactions with her clients. A “thank you,” a sunflower, a trip to the mountains — any and all of these things keep the light within her burning bright.
Her outlook on life is enviable, but this self described “sassy tomboy” thinks everyone can achieve it. Sometimes all it takes is a great massage followed by a pedicure!
Tiffany
Makeup Artist/Stylist
This third generation stylist was inspired to enter the beauty industry by her grandmother “Lady Lucille of Hollywood.” And Tiffany is every bit as pioneering as her grandmother (who just happens to be one of the first women to do hair weaves in the 60’s). Her ingenuity and inventiveness with makeup and hair not only comes from her genes, but also from her passionate and energetic personality. Having worked in Hollywood, she gives the celebrity treatment to each of her clients.
Tiffany takes great pride in her craft because she loves to make her clients look and feel beautiful. And for her, makeup and hairstyling is not just the business of beauty. It’s what she calls “a human business.” The relationships she develops with her clients are true and enduring. Tiffany cherishes their trust, as she listens, touches and even influences some of their decisions.
She literally wears her personality every day. Every ounce of confidence, flair, whimsy and passion can be found in her attire. With Betsey Johnson as her favorite fashion designer, you can understand why she’d describe her own style as “vintage, girly and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.” And no matter where Tiffany goes, she makes an entrance.
